Pocket Novel Movie 2026: Release Date Disputed, Cast & Crew
Pocket Novel cast, crew and release date. Vijay Sethupathi and Malavika Mohanan star, but sources disagree on the date, so verify first.
The release date for the pocket novel movie is disputed, and no official date has been confirmed. Filmibeat’s Tamil movie page lists 13 November 2026, while TMDB, Charmy Movies and Letterboxd list 24 December 2026. Cutmirchi and Pinkvilla report that no date has been officially announced. The sections below separate confirmed details from reported ones.
Pocket Novel at a Glance
Database listings describe Pocket Novel as a Tamil-language film, and TMDB and Letterboxd both give Tamil as the original language. Charmy Movies and TMDB list the Tamil title, பாக்கெட் நாவல். The project was announced in February 2026, as reported in a Hollywood Reporter India feature dated 18 February 2026. Thiagarajan Kumararaja directs the film.
The Hollywood Reporter India names Tyler Durden and Kino Fist as production banners, and Thiagarajan Kumararaja and S.D. Ezhilmathy as producers. Pinkvilla also names the producers. Genre listings differ: Letterboxd and TMDB give crime, thriller and drama, while Filmibeat gives fantasy, romance and thriller. None of the sources reviewed offers an official plot summary, so this guide does not describe the story.
Vijay Sethupathi and Malavika Mohanan Lead the Cast
Vijay Sethupathi and Malavika Mohanan are the lead cast, confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter India and Pinkvilla. Sethupathi’s earlier film with Kumararaja was Super Deluxe (2019), according to The Hollywood Reporter India and Pinkvilla.
Raj B Shetty and Kishore are confirmed supporting cast in the Hollywood Reporter India announcement and on IMDb. Karthik Subbaraj and Sai Vignesh appear on Letterboxd and Charmy Movies, but neither page states their roles. Character names have not been confirmed, so treat any character detail as unverified until the makers or a primary source provide it.
Crew Behind the Pocket Novel Movie
Thiagarajan Kumararaja is confirmed as director and as a producer. Nirav Shah is confirmed as cinematographer, listed by The Hollywood Reporter India and a Cutmirchi report on the end of filming. In this guide, confirmed means at least two reviewed sources agree. Reported means a single source or a database listing.
Pinkvilla and Charmy Movies report Andrew Louis for story and screenplay. Pinkvilla and Cutmirchi report Ilaiyaraaja as composer. Cutmirchi and Filmibeat’s cast and crew page report Sathyaraj Natarajan as editor. These are reported credits, so check them against the end credits once the film is released. Stunt choreography is not covered here, because no verified source names a credit for it.
Release Date: What the Sources Disagree On
The release date is the question most readers arrive with, and the sources do not settle it. Three positions appear:
- 13 November 2026, listed on Filmibeat’s Tamil movie page.
- 24 December 2026, listed by Charmy Movies, TMDB and Letterboxd.
- Unannounced, as reported by Cutmirchi and Pinkvilla.
Database listings are not studio announcements and can change without notice. The 13 November listing has no official statement behind it in the sources reviewed, so a mid-November theatre visit should not be planned on that basis yet.
Before trusting any date, check the following:
- Announcements from the producers and the production banners, Tyler Durden and Kino Fist.
- The verified social accounts of the director and lead cast, noting the date of each post.
- Whether an official source matches one of the database dates. Until one does, treat every listed date as unconfirmed.
- If listings conflict and no official post exists, hold off on booking.
- The date of your own check, since listings change.
Production Status and Post-Production Timeline
Filming has reportedly wrapped, according to Pinkvilla and Cutmirchi, and the wrap is reported to have happened around early October 2026. TMDB and Cutmirchi describe the film as in post-production, meaning the editing and finishing stage after the shoot. The sources do not say how long that stage will take.
A wrapped shoot shows progress, not a release window, and schedules at this stage can move. The film has not been released, so no critic reviews are available yet. Once published reviews appear, this guide will summarise them, with each view attributed to its outlet.
Streaming and OTT Plans
No streaming platform has been announced. Filmibeat’s movie page lists the OTT platform as TBA, and none of the other sources reviewed names a partner or a window. A confirmed OTT plan would normally come from the film’s official channels or the platform itself, so do not assume a service or timeline until one is announced.
Theatrical timing is the only area where the sources give dates, and those dates are the disputed ones above. An official OTT announcement would be the next meaningful update for this section.
