Power Rangers Got Dark New Armor By Sacrificing Their 90s Powers

Once upon a time, the Power Rangers were nothing much without their Power Coins forever, but in an alternate reality of Power Rangers known as the Coinless World, Rangers can act almost exactly like their “coin” counterparts. Some question the need for Power Coins when those without coins have a chance to get theirs back in Anthony Burch and Simone Ragazzoni’s Power Rangers: Lord Drakkon – New Dawn #3. Legendary Power Rangers, Tommy Oliver’s version of the World of the Coinless timeline, Lord Drakkon has seemingly died, leaving a power vacuum in this reality and giving the surviving Rangers a chance to revive their original team. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has hinted at a big screen reveal, the comics have reminded fans of the impact the original Nick Fury Sr. had on the group long before his recent retirement.

However, with Drakkon no longer alive, the remaining Rangers Zack, Trini, Scott, and Kimberly receive the Power Coins he used. Zack and Trini resist Scott’s request to use the coins to restore the Red Ranger’s abilities, arguing that things have changed and everyone should have access to the Morphin Grid. Ultimately, Zack and Trini’s arguments win out over Kimberly and Scott. As a result of their decision, the former Power Rangers form a new, united resistance group.
