Pirate Nightwing Debuts High Fashion for the High Seas

Possible spoilers for Nightwing #107! Nightwing’s next adventure takes him to the high seas as a pirate. The upcoming issue, Nightwing #105, follows his perspective as he teams up with Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl. In the next edition, he embarks on a brand-new journey.

Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo created the cover for Nightwing #107, while Eisner Award-winning artist Bruno Redondo illustrated it. The artwork was unveiled at the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con, and Redondo later shared it on Twitter. The cover features Dick Grayson in his Nightwing mask and a flowing white shirt, hanging from a rope aboard a massive ship. There are two versions of the cover: one set in daylight and the other at night.

Nightwing #107 is scheduled for release on October 17th. More details, including a synopsis of the issue, appear below.

A Bold New Look for Nightwing

After Blue Beetle ended, Jaime Reyes joined forces with the alien scarab Kaji Da. Together, they defeated Carapax and Victoria Kord. In a post-credits scene, fans discovered a shocking truth—Ted Kord, the former Blue Beetle, was still alive.

Ted had vanished when Victoria took over Kord Industries. Even his daughter, Jenny (Bruna Marquezine), believed he was gone. However, in Ted’s secret base, a corrupted video recording played. It confirmed his survival and mentioned an important message for Jenny.

This revelation sets up Ted Kord’s potential return in Blue Beetle 2 and other DCU stories. Unlike Dan Garrett and Jaime Reyes, Ted never relied on the Scarab’s power. Instead, he used his wealth to develop crime-fighting gadgets and vehicles. His disappearance left many questions. Now that some of his weapons have resurfaced, fans might finally see him in action again.

Jaime Reyes, now fully embracing his role, could find a mentor in Ted Kord. Their partnership would bring a fresh dynamic to the DCU. Fans eagerly await what’s next!
