Marvel Studio Cut Jonathan Majors Loose -What Happens Now?

Disney Not Moving Forward With Jonathan Majors in MCU After Assault and Harassment Convictions

Disney will not pursue Jonathan Majors for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after he was found guilty on Monday of two counts of domestic violence, assault and harassment, MovieMaker revealed. A source familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity, told MovieMaker that the studio will not pursue Majors for a role in light of the ruling. Majors is known for his roles in independent films such as The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Magazine Dreams, as well as Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and as Kang the Conqueror in the Disney+ series Loki. He was set to star in the upcoming MCU film Avengers: Kang Dynasty until his arrest in March for allegedly assaulting his now ex-girlfriend Grace Jabari.

After a two-week trial, Majors was found guilty of both charges and not guilty of two additional charges of third-degree intentional assault and second-degree aggravated harassment. Jabari testified that the argument began in March when she snatched Majors’ cell phone from his hand after seeing a text message from another woman saying, “I wish I’d kissed you by now.” She made a phone call before twisting his hand and arm, according to the Times. She then said she received a “hard blow” to the head during the Majors game, causing bruising, swelling and pain. She also said Majors injured her finger. The judge set a sentencing date for February. In this case, major league players could face probation or up to a year in prison.

“It is clear that the jury did not believe Ms. Grace Jabari’s story about what happened inside the SUV and concluded that Mr. Majors did not intentionally hurt her, and for that we are grateful. However, it is disappointing that the jury did not believe Ms. Jabari and instead concluded that Majors’ attack on her involved some degree of recklessness. Ms. Majors would like to thank God, her family, friends and fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months. Ms. Majors remains faithful to the process and looks forward to fully clearing her name.” Disney representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday.
