Kevin Feige Hints Marvel Character Has Been A Skrull Longer Than You Think
Secret Invasion Episode 4 Sneak Peek. Kevin Feige hinted that Rhodey may have been a Skrull in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time. The biggest Skrull theory from Secret Invasion was finally proven in Episode 4, “Beloved,” when it was revealed that Rhodey was actually a female Skrull in disguise. While the series hasn’t explored the plot too deeply, Feige has offered new clues about when Iron Man’s best friend was replaced. In an interview with Marvel.com, the Marvel Studios head breaks down Rhodey’s revelation: In Episode 4 of Secret Invasion, fans finally get to see the true form of the female Skrull, who assumed the identity of an Avenger while in the shower. The show gives no indication as to when Rhodey was fired, but Feige hints that he was out for longer than many think: “I really love the idea that fans can go back and see other performances of Rhodey and realize that it’s not him.”
What Happened To The Real Rhodey?
Rhodey’s revelation about the Skrulls is just one of the few developments in Secret Invasion Episode 4, which also includes the heartbreaking death of Talos, so we don’t get to really explore what this means for the larger MCU. But given what’s been shown about the plans of Gravik and his followers, it’s safe to say the real Rhodey has also been abducted and replaced by the shape-shifting alien. Exactly when and how this happens is currently unknown, but Feige’s comments lead us to believe he may already be replaced in the Infinity Saga.
However, it is worth noting that Rhodey behaves and speaks like his old self in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The version in Secret Invasion was unusually brutal and crude, which initially raised doubts among fans. Moreover, Feige and Marvel Studios may need to reconsider this creative decision in the future, as casting him as a Skrull in Infinity Saga would have significant impacts on the story, such as downplaying his friendship with Iron Man.
