Insights from Godzilla: Unveiling the 3 Titan Varieties (& Why Godzilla Reigns Supreme)

This article contains spoilers for Godzilla: War for Mankind 2. Of all the titans in the Godzilla story, the King of the Monsters himself is the strongest. This may seem obvious, especially given his widely known nickname, but one of Godzilla’s recent stories actually explains why he’s the strongest. It turns out that there are actually three different types of monsters in the world, but there are countless variations between them, and that Godzilla is effectively the same species. Modern fans have recently been exposed to a plethora of Godzilla content that depicts Godzilla from the same perspective. From the MonsterVerse proclaiming Godzilla King of the Monsters to comics like Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons affirming Godzilla’s importance and primacy in human history, Godzilla has been and always has been. Earth’s Alpha Titan, revealed in every iteration of their fictional universe. Another Godzilla comic currently in the works explains his established station in a whole new way. Previously, Godzilla was revealed to be the King of the Monsters, as he was physically stronger than other Kaiju. But now it turns out that Godzilla is actually the king. Not only because he is the strongest, but also because he is completely unpredictable.

Godzilla Doesn’t Follow Patterns Like Other Kaiju (& He’s Not Alone)

In Godzilla: The War for Humanity 2 by Andrew MacLean and Jake Smith, a new monster appears from nowhere: Zoospora. This monster is essentially a mushroom, not an animal. Zoospora kidnaps monsters from all over the world and infects them with poison to control their minds. It is explained that Zoospora is the result of Earth itself trying to destroy humanity on the surface, and that even Godzilla fears its wrath (but only towards his son). In humanity’s efforts to combat Zoospora, a small force of Kaiju experts has depicted his three different species of Titans on Earth to better understand what they are up against. . According to this manga, there are three species: those that move in a set pattern, those that hibernate in a safe place, and those that are completely unpredictable. Until the appearance of Zuospora, Godzilla was the only monster of the latter kind.

Godzilla’s failure to follow the natural habits of other monsters gives him an inherent advantage over other monsters, and also shows a level of understanding that no other Founding Titan displays. That’s why Godzilla is the King of the Monsters and why Zuospora is probably the greatest villain Godzilla has ever faced. Zoospora are similarly unpredictable, physically imposing (if not more so), and able to manipulate smaller monsters to their will. While Godzilla controls the Titans through a combination of intimidation and respect, Zuospora controls them through a mystical mind-controlling venom. The upcoming conflict will be one to remember, as they are the same type of Titan (based on the parameters described in this comic), proving that they should be equals.

The amount of similarities between these two monsters is interesting, but perhaps most interesting is that these are the only monsters that don’t follow a specific pattern, and both use this as an advantage over all other Titans on Earth. It is used for. Having a monster on Godzilla’s level is truly epic, but after his inevitable victory, Godzilla will once again be unique and prove once again why he is the King of the Monsters.
