Ghost Rider Fan Trailer Delivers The MCU’s Perfect Keanu Reeves Casting

A new Ghost Rider fan trailer shows what Keanu Reeves will look like as Marvel’s iconic superhero. Despite his popularity, Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, has yet to debut in the MCU, last appearing on screen in a mid-2000s film starring Nicolas Cage before the rights were returned to Marvel Studios. Despite the rights being returned, there has been no comment or mention of a possible Ghost Rider film by Marvel Studios. Reeves has yet to play the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite occasional rumors linking him to the role. Reeves has also expressed interest in playing Ghost Rider, but so far there have been no requests from actors or fans. Stryder HD recently released a Ghost Rider fan trailer that serves as a proof of concept of what Marvel Studios’ solo adventure focusing on the MCU’s Spirit of Vengeance might look like. The footage features Gabriel Luna’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Robbie Reyes, with Reeves starring as Johnny Blaze, whose story will be told through his successor.

Why Hasn’t The MCU Cast Its Own Ghost Rider Yet?

Ghost Rider

Phase 4 and 5 introduced several new heroes and villains to the MCU, but Ghost Rider has yet to be revealed. However, with the introduction of supernatural characters such as Werewolf by Night and the upcoming Blade reboot, the MCU has begun laying the groundwork for a possible Midnight Sons project. Whether they use Robbie or Johnny, it would be the perfect opportunity to finally put Ghost Rider in action. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set the stage for not only Robbie, but also Johnny when he made a brief appearance in Season 4. Robbie’s origin story revealed that Johnny was the one who channeled the powers of the Spirit of Vengeance. Somehow, Johnny remains unused somewhere in the MCU and could be fleshed out at this point while reviving the Ghost Rider mythology in the series Agents of SHIELD. In fact, it would be great if the MCU could find a way to cast Johnny and Robbie as Ghost Rider at the same time. A Ghost Rider TV series was almost coming to fruition on Hulu, but creative differences prevented the final project from being revealed. Given that the MCU will once again use Marvel TV characters and Daredevil will headline his own Disney+ show, there is no reason why Marvel Studios couldn’t consider doing the same with Ghost Rider. Hopefully, Ghost Rider will eventually have a permanent place in the MCU in some form, whether it’s in the near future or in the more distant future of the MCU.
