The Equalizer 3 Featured, Reviews Film Threat

The Equalizer 3 begins with a fast-paced, graphic, intense action sequence at an idyllic winery in the Sicilian countryside. McCall has discovered something here. The identity of the MacGuffin he tracks down is left until the end of the film, and it would be trivial for me to say any more about it. Instead, the action ends with McCall being seriously injured; so much so that he has to go to the hospital. He takes a ferry to the province of Naples and arrives in the town of Altamonte, where he is treated by the local doctor Enzo (Remo Girone). It is clear that McCall, after his restoration, is in no condition to leave Altamonte. During his recovery, he finds out about the raids of the local Camara Mafia. The local Camara, embodied by the brothers Vincent and Marco Quaranta (Andrea Scarduzio and Andrea Dodero), want to use the funds of the jihadists to advance the hostile takeover of all the property of his native Naples coast. Since the good people of Altamonte are the main victims of Marco’s blackmail, McCall ruthlessly gets involved in these matters, using his skills to wreak havoc, assassinating McCall and initiating his revenge alone on behalf of the people of Altamonte, who welcomed him with open arms.

The Equalizer

As these crimes and illegal activities come to light, Emma Collins (Dakota Fanning) receives an anonymous tip from the CIA’s Financial Crimes Unit that there is a large amount of illegal contraband at this remote Sicilian winery. Because of this, the CIA visits Naples and Sicily to investigate where the drugs and other illegal goods are coming from. At the same time, the CIA’s course of action does not add much importance to the proceedings. Washington and Fanning are great together. The two co-starred in 2004’s Man on Fire, where Washington played a bodyguard. It’s almost a teacher-student relationship. McCall teaches Collins the small but important details of successfully completing the mission. A very nice sequence between the two. Similarly, the time dedicated to life at Altamonte is very idyllic. This is the place where McCall is able to find and achieve peace. It may require the use of his lethal muscle strength, but the incentive offered to the aging military contractor is peace. Every time Antoine Fuqua stars alongside Denzel Washington, you experience beautiful cinematic magic. This theorem is effectively implemented in The Equalizer 3, a great 1 hour 49 minute action movie that I heartily recommend.
